Councillor Paula Hope declared her candidacy for re-election as Councillor of the Town of the Blue Mountains at the Town Hall on June 8th.
When asked why she is running for re-election, Paula states,
“The Town of the Blue Mountains is one of Ontario’s true treasures and I am delighted to do everything I can to preserve and enhance the Town’s stunning natural assets and rich community character. I enjoyed my first term as Councillor and look forward to contributing to the intelligent and strategic shaping of the Town’s future with high quality decisions that embrace “seven generation” principles.”
Paula has been highly active during her first term as Councillor. She has held the following positions at the Town,
- Chair of the Official Plan Review Steering Committee
- Community and Council Representative to the Community Communications Advisory Committee
(CCAC) - Community and Council Representative to the Economic Development Advisory Committee
(EDAC) - Council Representative to the Thornbury Business Improvement Area (BIA)
- Council Representative with the Ukrainian Refugee Task Force
Before running for Council in 2018, Paula was a Board member and Chair of Communications for the Blue Mountain Ratepayers Association (BMRA), Vice-President of the Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) and President of the Lora Bay Social Committee.
Paula’s journey with leadership roles started with her election as college president and student senator at Trent University, when she was in her late teens. Paula continued this forward direction in her professional life as a leading sales and marketing executive with corporations which were active in
international, continental, and Canadian markets. For the last 15 years, Paula has been CEO of her own professional development and consulting companies.
Other leadership roles pursued by Paula include Committee Chair roles at Chambers of Commerce/Boards of Trade in Ottawa, Mississauga, Oakville and the Blue Mountains as well as with the Canadian Office Products Association (COPA).
Paula holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree (Carleton) and is a certified coach and adult educator, along with other certifications in the professional development field. She is a thought leader in referral marketing and is the traditionally published author of two books on the topic.
